Ask how the property has been left, what cannot be used, what needs monitoring and when the arrangement must be reviewed. Simply writing temporary on the report does not explain how to manage it.
Making safe is not always restoring service. Isolating faulty equipment can control a hazard while leaving it unusable. The record should not call that a successful working repair.
What a permanent repair includes
Agree the fault being corrected and the intended result. The job may replace a part, put an installation defect right or repair the building itself. Use the appropriate checks or tests to confirm the outcome and keep the evidence.
Repairing one component does not mean everything has been renewed. Ask the record to identify precisely what was repaired and any other defects found, so later work starts from an accurate history.
Plan the transition
Link the lasting repair to the first job, including findings, temporary measures, parts, access and approval. Name the person arranging completion and set a review date.
Include the whole job. Roof repairs may leave drying and internal decoration; a pipe repair may leave a wall to close. Agree who deals with those stages instead of treating one trade's completion as the end of all work.
Check and close the final work
At handover, confirm what was repaired, how it was checked and whether it is back in use. Remove restrictions only when the responsible person confirms the conditions are satisfied. Update the records and close the linked temporary action.
If the symptoms remain, add them to the same history and investigate further. A completed label does not prove the agreed result was achieved.
