The challenge
Water was discharging from the pressure relief valve after the filling loop had been left open, continuously feeding mains pressure into the system. The expansion vessel had also lost charge, while a heavily blocked primary-flow filter was restricting circulation.
The response
- Attended the veterinary practice following a Friday-evening emergency call-out.
- Diagnosed the open filling loop and failed pressure relief valve.
- Returned on Monday to replace the faulty valve.
- Checked and recharged the expansion vessel to the correct operating pressure.
- Investigated poor circulation and identified significant debris in the primary-flow filter.
- Recommissioned and tested the system.
Result
The immediate leak was made safe and the follow-up remedial work addressed the failed pressure-control component and loss of vessel charge. The system was left safe, operational and recommissioned, with the circulation restriction documented for the client.
